Thyme (Linalol) Essential Oil
Antiseptic Immune boosting Stimulant Energizing
Thyme is a stimulating and energising essential oil. Our Thyme is a particular linalol type which has a very gentle soft action.
If you suffer with low blood pressure Thyme is a must-have – sprinkle a couple of drops onto a tissue and inhale several times a day. The other oil that helps with low blood pressure is Sage so use the one you like the aroma of more or use Thyme for a few days and then Sage.
Thyme is one of the best oils for boosting the immune system. It can be used in the bath on a daily basis – try 2 drops Thyme, 2 drops Lemon and 2 drops Ravensara or 2 drops Thyme, 2 drops Mandarin and 2 drops Tea Tree. Mix and match the oils – its great fun and all the blends smell so different.
These immuno booster blends are perfect if you are recovering from an illness or if you are trying to prevent yourself from coming down with an illness.
Thyme is always recommended whenever you want to get rid of toxins. It is also great for fungal problems. Clients who present to me with Candida usually respond to Thyme and Tea Tree.
For fungal problems in the feet such as Athletes Foot try a footbath with 2 drops Thyme, 2 Tea Tree and 2 drops Lemongrass.
Thyme is often used as a gargle for throat infections. I also like to use it with Lemon and Geranium for a sore throat; blend one drop of each in 2 teaspoons of carrier oil and rub gently into the throat and neck area.
Thyme is ideal for when your concentration needs a boost and it also helps the memory. Put a couple of drops on a tissue and take it to work with you and use it when your mind is drifting in the afternoon!
On a spiritual level Thyme clears away trauma.
