Frankincense is excellent for the emotions, the respiratory system and the skin.
It can be used for coughs and colds as well as asthma. If you have children with asthma it is one of the best oils to burn since it encourages us to not panic and to breathe more deeply and slowly. As a bedtime chest rub I highly recommend 1 drop Frankincense, 1 drop Myrtle and 1 drop of Chamomile in 10mls (2 teaspoons) carrier oil.
Frankincense is deeply relaxing and is excellent for sadness and depression. It is often my oil of choice for the recently bereaved since it encourages acceptance and helps us to let go. I have noticed in my aromatherapy treatments that Frankincense will gently encourage any deeply buried emotions to rise to the surface and be released.
Frankincense is a must have for skin care. It is excellent for all types of skin. One of my favourite blends is 1 drop Frankincense, 1 drop Rose and 1 drop Neroli in 10gms of cream or 10mls (2 teaspoons) of carrier oil. It is just divine!
An excellent aid for meditation as it induces a heightened spiritual awareness.
Frankincense also allows us to release, let go of the past and to move on.
